    In this research, we succeeded for the first time in the world to convert waste heat generated in non-degenerate Si spin MOS transistor elements into electric signals by using spintronics technology. This result was obtained through collaborative research with TDK Corporation ・ Osaka University Graduate School of Engineering Science and Engineering Suzuki Yoshioro Lab.

    "Spin transport and spin conversion in compound semiconductor with non-negligible spin-orbit interaction"

    is accepted to the Physical Review Letters（Impact Factor:7.7). Mr. S. Dushenko (PhD candidate) et al. have successfully demonstrated dynamical spin injection and spin transport in a n-type germanium at room temperature, which paves the way for a high carrier mobility spin-transistor. This work was conducted in collaboration with Dr. M. Myronov (University of Warwick, UK). Press release will be held in near future.→ See the details(Japanese)

    Dr. Y. Ando(Assistant Prof.) and Mr. T Hamasaki (MC student) have successfully detected surface spin polarization in a topological insulator, BiSbTeSe (BSTS). BSTS is well-known as an appropriate topological insulator for spintronic applications because BSTS is a bulk-insulative topological insulator. A paper related with this topic will appear in Nano Letters (Impact Factor=12.9), and the detail will be introduced at a press release in near future.

    TDK Corporation, Akita Prefectural Industrial　Center and Shiraishi Lab. successfully achievd the world-first operation of Si-based spin transistor, and a manuscript has been accepted in Physical Review Applied, a journal of American Physical Society. This achievement was carried out by the dedicative work of Dr. Yuichiro Ando (Assis. Prof.), Mr. Makoto Kameno (Ph.D candidate) and Mr. Takayuki Tahara (Master course student) in our laboratory.
    The detail of the study will be explained in a press release in near future.

  • Our recent research paper "Local magnetoresistance in Fe/MgO/Si lateral spin valve at room temperature" T. Sasaki, Y. Ando, M. Shiraishi et al., collaborated with TDK Corporation, is accepted to the Applied Physics Letter. This paper reports the first observation of the local magnetoresistance effect in the Si based spin device.
